Monocalcium phosphate, also known as acid calcium phosphate, is an inorganic compound and is commonly found in monohydrate form. Monocalcium phosphate is colourless and it can appear in both granular and powder form. It is used as a leavening agent in the food industry.
A process of producing monocalcium phosphate in the form of small discrete crystals comprising heating phosphoric acid of at least 75% H3PO4 while adding gradually an amount of lime less than about 65% of that necessary to convert the H3PO4 to monocalcium phosphate. It is processed until the mass thickens with formation of hydrated crystals of monocalcium phosphate. Then heating the materials to bring the mass into a more liquid and boiling condition at about 300° F. With conversion of the hydrated monocalcium phosphate to the anhydrous crystalline form, and then eliminating liquid from the mass by heating and adding lime, it attain a weight ratio of CaO:P2O5 of about 0.39. This process is uesd to complete the formation of anhydrous monocalcium phosphate, free from excess phosphoric acid, as a dry product.
MCP neutralizes the harmful effects of sodium, potassium, magnesium, and others. It ensures the proper functioning of the heart, nervous and muscular systems, as well as many other organs. Improves digestion, strengthens the immune system, improves the efficiency of carbohydrate, protein, fat, mineral, and energy metabolism in the body, and higher bioavailability than any other phosphorous supplement.
Monocalcium phosphate is used as leavening agent in bakery for cakes, bread and other baked foods for improved texture. It can also be used as an emusifier and flavor enhancer in beverages.
Monocalcium Phosphate used as abrasive; buffering agent; bulking agent; oral care agent in cosmetics and personal care products.
Agriculture, Animal Feed and Poultry Industry
Monocalcium Phosphate is used in fertilizers. Monocalcium Phosphate also used as a food supplement for livestock and poultry. It restores phosphorous and calcium minerals to the mineral deficiency cattle diet. They facilitate the metabolism of livestock and poultry, strengthening their immune and reproductive systems.
Monocalcium Phosphate is widely used as stabilizer and emulsifier in many other industries like glass and plastic manufacturing industries etc.
